For those of you who know me well, you know that I would trypically not be one to "blog." I'm really not quite sure why I am starting one, other than it seems like a good thing to do.
Today I felt like I had an awakening. Why is it that most days you just can't wait for the day to be over? After the headaches of your day and dealing with all of the extra burdens that were put on you-the thought of ending the day never seemed better. However, today I felt something different. The headaches and the burdens were still there, but suddenly I really didn't want the day to end at all. Infact, I wanted to drag it out as much as possible.
It seems like lately everyone has had it rough. Nothing has touched me more than hearing about one of my friends....friends.... who lost their precious baby just a few days before he was due. Everytime I think about this wonderful family and what they had to give up tears start streaming down my face. While it is very, very sad I find myself wondering if my reaction would be the same if I had not just had my own precious baby. So many times we take for granted what we have. How can something that is so connected to you just be snatched away in an instant? It seems cruel, but when I hear how this family is coping with this devastation I realize just how lucky I am. I prayed and prayed for a healthy baby and that is just what I got. After everything is said and done and you are holding your precious child in your arms you never stop to ask yourself... what if it had gone the other way?
Lately, I find myself cherishing the times Raileigh cries and all of the times I get to go and change her diaper. Why do we consider those things to be burdens when it should be the most precious gift of all. My promise to myself is to cherish all of these times with my family. One day, I will look back and want these days back!
